For those people in Scandinavia the word hygge will instinctively mean something, but to those outside, or unfamiliar with the word, the word hygge comes from a Danish word meaning “to give courage, comfort, joy”. There’s no real direct translation as it’s more about a feeling, than a tangible ‘thing’.
In both Danish and Norwegian, hygge refers to “a form of everyday togetherness”, “a pleasant and highly valued everyday experience of safety, equality, personal wholeness and a spontaneous social flow”.
When organisations are developing their People Strategies, designing for the future, we believe they can’t go far wrong from creating a great and successful culture if they try to be a little more hygge – and that’s where we can help.
Don’t worry if this all sounds a little too much for you. Part of good engagement is honesty and transparency and although we want to drive change, we also accept that our approach isn’t for everyone. Part of our ethos is that we only want to work with people that are bought into our journey, and we’re realistic to know that it may not be you. If you feel that a further conversation is worth it, then we’re always here to talk. If you want to know more, then click here to find out more details on the types of projects we do. If you value money over people, then thanks for reading, but we’re probably not for you.
